OK.........this is what I've come up with. I've owned the van since December '00. I've driven it regularily but nothing very far ie. the longest trips have been about 1 hour. I replaced the plugs and noticed that they were a greyish colour (as per the haynes manual they are in good order). I replaced oil/filter (20w50 out and new 20w50 in) yesterday and oil smelled like gas. I checked the old oil and it looks pretty goopy/thick (ie. I don't think there was much gas in it but some none the less). Suggestions have been that my rings are bad........but wouldn't my engine be smoking if this was the case?? Other suggestions have been the fuel injectors which I think may be the culprit. I'll have to see the next time I change the oil (or should I not wait that long??) Also, if the injectors are leaking do I have to replace them or just the injector seals???
