Subject: Soundproofing - do I or not?
Comments: To: type2@type2.com

I'm the one who a month or so ago bought a roll of a roofing material to use on the floor of my Westy to use as a sound proofing.

Okay I've established a few things - I'm going to use Waxoyl as a rust preventative and also boiled linseed oil for the same reason.

What do you think - I'm going to remove the stove/sink and fridge cabinet and then the backseat. I plan on coating each and every body cavity (on the bus you know...) with the boiled linseed oil and allowing to soak, followed by a generous coating of Waxoyl.

Should I do the same on the top side of the floor, then applying the noise matting on top of that, and then sitting the cabinet on top of the matting ---

or

should I just put the matting on the floor where the carpet would be.

I know I'm definitely pulling all of the cabinets for a big rust inspection but can't decide about how liberal I'm going to get with the Waxoyl and linseed oil and then whether to sit the cabinets on top of a layer of the noise mats or work around the cabinets.

Confused? I am sort of but I may also have just answered my own question.

Without the archives I can't hunt for everyone's previous experiences.

Thanks everybody. Chris in Mid-TN
