One way to cull out SPAM with a mail filter is to set your email filter to
reject:
all email with dates of less than 1/1/1970
all email where your address does not appear in the TO: or CC:

This does not help in the SPAM that is posted to the Vanagon board, but will
help with the SPAM sent directly to you.
