well, i just drove our new '87 syncro westfalia home from the parking lot of petsmart, where bill the incredibly nice transport trucker dropped it off for me (i do wish i was getting the packard constellation that was in cherry condition, as well, but we've got our new one!).

it's certainly been used, but should clean up nicely. cleaning, cleaning, cleaning is going to be the order of the day. my temp light blinked for a while, but then went off. my oxs light stayed on (i can assume it's an oxygen sensor issue, but i have not checked the owner's manual!).

anyway, i am now subscribed to my home email as well. THANK YOU to all and sundry who helped me interpret what this was, the condition, etc. it's certainly used. there are some more dents the pictures don't show well, but no problems. only a couple of spots showing rust up on the roof (where chafing has removed the paint, nothing serious, it's on a flat spot not a seam, the size of a pencil eraser). i do think they screwed up the electric mirrors (folded them flat, damn it!). i can live with that, for the nonce.

tires are 205/75/14 on the alloys, and all but one lugnut cap is missing! needs new struts to hold up the rear hatch, and all the tinting has to come off. my nerves are singing...

bill '87 syncro westfalia SHE'S HOME! bill asdfasdf
