Subject: adding an A/C system . . .
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Thanks to Chris Radcliff I'm the proud new owner of a Westy A/C system that is going into my '87 Westy. I have a few questions about some of the components and their locations:

(The A/C system is off a 1990 Westy - which has a few differences in the wiring than an 87):

1. The wiring diagram has a "G18 TEMP SNSR II" which appears to only be hooked up to the a/c Thermostat. Is this a coolant temp sensor? Where is it physically located on the van and is it used for anything else? Anyone know the part #?

2. There is a "2nd Stage Radiator Cooling Fan Relay" - is this exclusive to the van with A/C? If Chris pulls it from his van will it hurt his basic rad. cooling fan operations?

3. There is also a "3rd Stage Radiator Cooling Fan Relay" - Same questions: Exclusive to vans with a/c? Can Chris remove it from his van without compromising his basic rad. cooling fan ops?

4. Anyone know the part #'s to the 2nd and 3rd stage relays?

5. The A/C relay, compressor clutch relay, and evaporator relay all come together in a small bundle. Bentley says they go behind the 'D' pillar cover - does this mean they're exposed to the outside elements or are they kept inside the van somwhere? Is it different on Westy?

This is a fun project; it took me forever just to get the compressor's bracket attached to the engine last night - this could take a LONG time to get fully installed!

Thanks,

Damian
