You are going to love this one...

DSL connectivity was lost at the house at 5:00PM, which is awfully
typical for rainy weather (not typical to DSL, just my crappy-ass crusty
copper local loop). So I called in to Concentric (my ISP) at 10:00PM
when the line still hadn't come back up.

Turns out the reason the line is down is not the weather - for a change.
My DSL provider, NorthPoint Communications (www.northpointcom.com), is
out of money so they unofficially ceased operations yesterday. They simply
turned off all their equipment and went home!

So my ISP is going to have another DSL provider, Covad, install a
replacement line for my service...but it may take 2 weeks to get it up
and running!

I didn't want the list down that long, so Gerry has been relocated to my
employer's network (http://www.terpsys.com) until connectivity to the house
is restored.
