I have also used the Yakima high tower rain gutter mount with an extra
set of spacers to clear the Westy roof, which you now may have to order
directly from Yakima.  Used it for the last 10 years to carry one or two
canoes, plywood, beds, etc., works great and very strong.

Now I am building two stitch and glue kayaks from Pygmy Boats and will
add the Yakima roller and saddle system for them. I'm also considering a
trailer from Magneta.  These are really nice--you can carry two canoes
or kayaks, two bikes, and even mount a clamshell carrier on it if you
want.  The trailer is around $600, but the convenience of not having to
stow and remove all the gear from inside or on top of the van every
night when traveling and camping would be worth it.
