I fought this for a week or two, it turned out to be a bad spark plug wire. I found this by swaping out the whole set with a new set. I ohmed the wires, veiwed them in the dark, sprayed them with water, all the tricks but nothing showed bad. I was sick of playing games with it so I swaped the wires out and it has been perfect, even blew away the emissions test. It is worth a try if you have a second set around. I have many VWs so I just used a spare set. > My '84 has been doing the same thing; > John Lauterbach It accellerates poor and unevenly. > Low > > in the RPMs during the accelleration curve it has very low power, then it > > hits a certain RPM where the power seems to nearly double. > > From: Joel Walker > > > I have an 84 GL, and it's beginning to misfire when running at > > highway > > > speeds.
