Subject: '85 Adventurewagen for sale...again
Content-Type: TEXT/PLAIN; charset=US-ASCII
As some of you may remember, I had advertised this adventurewagen for sale
last October. At the time, a friend of mine had said that she wanted it,
and so I "sold" it to her. She subsequently became very busy with a new
job, and the camper wasn't used much. Since she no longer wants the
camper, I am once again attempting to sell it. It is currently located in
Crestline, CA, in the mountains just north of San Bernadino.
This adventurewagen has just under 107,000 miles on the odometer. The
engine starts, idles, and runs well. It doesn't feel as powerful as the
couple of vanagons with 2.1 engines that I've owned, but with a 1.9, the
additional camping equipment, and a higher profile, it's hard for me to
determine the source(s) of this difference. Despite the weaker feeling,
it gets around in the mountains where I live reasonably well. The manual
transmission shifts smoothly and easily. Though the body is not perfect,
it is in pretty good shape for an '85. The interior is in nice shape as
well. Many pictures can be found at http://www.geocities.com/dmost/
A brochure describing the adventurewagen conversion of the vanagon can be
downloaded at http://www.jps.net/gadams/aw/brochure.zip
All the camping appliances work. The refrigerator gets cold, the stove
lights, the furnace operates when you turn on the thermostat. All lighting
works. The water tank is fine, but the filter needs to be replaced (I let
it freeze and crack). The adventurewagen came with a Behr AC system, but
as the compressor needs to be replaced, the AC does not work at this time.
Parts that have been replaced recently include the clutch, muffler,
tailpipe, water pump, thermostat, spark plugs, cap, and rotor.
It would be nice to keep the adventurewagen, but I can't afford to own and
properly maintain more than one vehicle. I am asking $2500 or best offer,
and ALL offers will be considered. Please call (909) 338-5465 or write to
me at most@ucla.edu for additional details.
Thanks,
David
