Subject:      Is it safe to pull out the chrome window strips?

Greetings all,

Subject pretty much says it all. The "chrome" window strips on my bus are now a ugly rust color. I think it would look better to just have solid black rubber until I can get them replaced.

My question is, if I pull these about, do they affect the window seal's sealing ability?
