Get it going on your workbench before you put it in. The inverting for a day may indeed help and won't harm. Then plug it in and make sure it works on AC voltage. Try the DC voltage too if you care about it. When it's been cooking on AC for awhile --- try and light the propane. You can hook up a standard BBQ tank. Make sure the fan on the back fan works too --- and it would also be a good time to install an additional fan here as many have done.
