Hello folks. I am REQUESTING HELP, in locating a tech facility which can do the gov't required modifications to my european '82 Vanagon Doublecab(Doka) pick-up, once I ship it to the States next year. It's a former city of Mannheim, Germany street & sanitation truck. Still in that original carnival orange, with the 3M day-glo safety stripes! Plus the 4-spd w/standard diesel, and the diesel fueled aux. heater... Since I'll be shipping it through Baltimore, I'd like to find a conversion shop either on the East coast, or in the Midwest.(She's going home to Chicago.) I have the book "How to import a European Car" by Jean Duguay, but my copy is dated 1985, so not so reliable for today... I'm not even sure how much alteration is necessaary, since it's the same diesel engine inported here. Hope only safety (DoT) fearures will be at issue. Any leads will be appreciated. Regards, JOHN ALLSEITS
