Howdy strangers-

Yep, G. M. Bulley is still slurking off list, but available through p-mail... here's today's Vanagon question.

Those who know me, know I ain't no technical dunce... I gots skeels. So yesterday I go out to the barn under the pecan tree to swap my battery in the Westy. Thinkin' I'm super-fly, I disconnect the leads, spin the passenger seat around, laugh at how the PO mangled the back lip metal to get the battery in; I know better, right?? Mr. Smug spins the wrench, loosens the bolt on the holder-ma-jiggy, which promptly falls behind the battery, wedging it solidly.

Half hour of cursing and knuckle bashing, It's fished out. Mr. Smug leaves for the evening.

So I try to pull the battery out. No go. The back (metal) lip is in the way... Wassupwitdat??? Biting my own lip, I re-mangle the back lip of the battery box, and with cursing, wiggling, pirouettes, prayers, convulsions, conniptions, I pull the dead soldier. Then, (after more cursing, wiggling, pirouettes, prayers, convulsions, conniptions), the new battery slides into the hole about as awkwardly as "The First Time", if'n you know what I mean.

Is that box made for a Group 41? That's what was in mine, and that is what is in the box now, but I'll be dadgummed if it wasn't a royal beach to make it go. What it's the RIGHT size??? Considering that I want a deep cycle cell to ride in the van under my coccyx, what size goes in nicely, so Mr. Smug can help me?

p-mail or cc: my address. I ain't peepin' at the daily postings,

peace,

G. Matthew Bulley Historical Figure of the Future And humble, too Host of that Anti-Rust, Anti-Noise, Pro-Warmth VW website: http://bulley-hewlett.com/VWindex
