a word of caution... there is a magical world called the world of statistics that can make everything seem to be black and white when it is really red and grey? anyways...

with everything else stock you might get into stock 1.8t/vr6 numbers. but, with a piggyback "fuel enrichment device"(a fifth injector) and a smaller drive pulley to put out 7 lbs of boost at a reasonable 5000 rpm, and alcohol injection to cool things off a bit.

you can easily get 45% increase in power.. in real world numbers !!!!!AT THE CRANK!!!!!!!!! i can not stress that enough !!AT THE CRANK!! you can go from about 115-120 hp to around 166.75 - 174 hp.. that is on a solid rebuilt 8 valve. you will get less of a performance upgrade if you use a 16 valve. also, if you have a performance grind cam, that will detrack from the performance boost you will get.

at the wheels(in a 96 8valve jetta), that would approximately get you from around 85hp to around 138 hp. considering i can easily(only a flat somewhat straight road required) get to a buck-fifteen in my jetta with only 85 hp, 138hp would be a significant performance increase.

stock vr6 175?hp at the crank(not too sure bout that #) stock 1.8t 150hp at the crank boosted 2.0 8-valve around 170hp at the crank

in my humble opinion, you would be right in the thick of things :)

peace.. out.
