My '91 had the problem. (Intermittent loss of power at speed after about an hour of continuous driving, generally in cold weather.) I installed the capacitor, and it seems to run smoother and idle down better, but I am not sure if the main problem has been solved since I haven't taken a long trip in cold weather since.
