Hi Folks, Recently the idle has been racing. Checked out the archives for some great info. Replaced burned out transistor and a couple of diodes on the idle controller circuit board. Now idle speed seems right, but... Bentley says the idle control valve (sitting on top of the engine) should vibrate and hum during normal idle. My unit doesn't seem to do this. The valves impedance is about 5 Ohms, and it engages when I apply voltage on my bench. The idle control unit is supplying about 10VDC at the valve with the valve connector unplugged, and the engine at idle. Things seem fine, but the valve isn't humming or vibrating. Note: sometimes the engine would idle fine even before the fix. Hence, I'm not sure I really fixed the idle problem. I guess time will tell, but I'm taking a trip very soon, and I'd like to have assurance. Any comments? John |
