Volks, I am considering putting 98 (or later) 15 in steel wheels on my Syncro. These have offset of 38 as opposed to the stock 30. A 5 hole 8mm spacer is readily available at a chain FLAPS. Has anyone tried this combination? Some have expressed concern for bearing wear if you simply use the Passat wheel with the 38 offset. Will the spacer correct this potential problem or just move the tire outward? I have been thinking about this one and am not sure about how this would redistribute the load on the bearings. Lean toward thinking it would make it closer to stock than just the wheel, but unsure? Any reports on experiences with the wheel or the wheel and spacers? Reports on similar setups? Input appreciated? Sam Walters 89 Syncro 84 Vanagon |
