I vote for the list to remain open as personally I do not use my subscribed account to send messages. Some other mailing lists have two types of lists, one to read the list, and a second to allow your e-mail address to post to the list. So, for example, if you want to post from a different address then subscribed, you would just subscribe the second address to the "post" list.

In fact, I read the list through a news server. This may be a good solution. I run a few mailing lists for people studying for Cisco Certifications (www.groupstudy.com). All lists are available via Website, Newsfeed, and E-Mail. We can easily set the same thing up for the Vanagon list.

The Aragon list messages I have forwarded to a newsfeed so I do not need to download individual messages. If people are interested, and it is ok with the moderator of this group, I will open my newsfeed to anyone who is interested. Now I only use it for personal use, but it would not be a big deal to allow others.

Right now, you can NOT post from the newsfeed. I did this to prevent any loops that may occur, but it can be changed if the Vanagon moderator says it is ok. So any posting will still need to be sent via e-mail to vanagon@vanagon.com

I will open the newsfeed this weekend so you can see what I am describing. Use the following:

Server: news.groupstudy.com Username: vanagon Password: vanagon

This password will only be good for the weekend unless Tom ok's it. Remember you must use the username/password or else you will be given the public newsgroups I moderate - a bunch of boring messages about computer networking.

By accessing this group via a news server, you can save your e-mail for other things. If we are loosing people because of too many messages, this might be a happy alternative.

Tell me what you think!
