I got two 10 mfd tantalum capacitors off the rack at Radio Shack and
soldered them in parallel (hook the two positive leads together and the
two negative leads together).  I believe that R. S. can also order a
single 22 mfd tantalum for you if you prefer. A voltage rating of 10 or
15 V is plenty, higher is OK too.
 Connect the positive side of the capacitor(s) to pin 2 on the AFM
connector (blue and red wire on my '91).
  Connect the negative side to pin 4 (brown and white wire on mine).
I pulled back the rubber boot on the connector, scraped a little
insulation off the wires and soldered.  Tantalum capacitors are small,
so they fit inside the boot reasonably well.
