Hi,

I have the Passat wheels installed on my syncro without the spacers. I brought the stock steel wheels to a local machine shop and had them increase the center hub diameter by about 10 mm. (don't quote me on that, I would have to double check) I think any good machine shop can do this for you. I don't think that the stock Passat steel wheels will fit over the center hubs on the Vanagon. either the front or rears. Like you say, the offset will remain the same. I run 205/60-15's on them also.
