For myself, the *volume* of mail from the List is formidable. The volume is of more concern than the content, when it comes down to it.

A number of previous list members, including our beloved Ron Bloomquist, tell me they have signed off the list because the volume is too heavy. List mail volume would decrease exponentially if list members would cease commenting, even humorously, on all SPAM.

Why dont people who are overwhelmed by the volume of mail from the list learn to use their email program to automatically put the incoming messages from "vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com" into a seperate folder. Its not difficult, and most email programs have this feature. Doing this also allows you to have a local archive of postings from which to search. I hope people keep on posting whatever they want to post... My delete button is well-oiled, and I would rather exersize my index finger on it than have this list become "closed".
