Subject: Coolant hose problems
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

My coolant hose problems continue. My van has been off the road for almost 3 months with a burst coolant hose. I ordered what I thought was a replacement but it turned out to be the wrong hose. It does not go to the rear heater core. The hose I need goes from some type of connector on the driver's side hidden behind the rear wheel (impossible to see it from any angle), then goes directly over the rubber axle boot (drivers side) up over the transmission tunnel (?) and then forward down the passenger side and disappears to god knows where. I've looked from every angle, crawled under the van, but I cannot see where it goes. Its about 1 1/4 ins outside diameter. I crawled under the van and looked at the two long hoses that go from the rear to the front of the van (could it be one of these?). They both definitely need replacing. Has anyone done this? Where do the hoses go to up front (I can't see). Is there any generic source for these hoses, they are extremely expensive for a vehicle with auto trans like mine. There is also a short section of rubber hose for the fuel system under the van that connects the fuel tank with a filter (?) that looks like it needs replacing. Any help or advice much appreciated.

- David ('87 Wolfsburg, auto)
