Pardon the interruption, at least it's VW-related and not spam... ;) Reverse gear in my wife's '90 Jetta is shot and I'm looking for a cheap way to get this thing back on the road. I hate to pay big bucks (~$1500) to have a shop pull the tranny and put in a good rebuild. So I'm thinking of getting a junkyard tranny and doing the work myself. I have 2 questions: 1. How difficult is it to R&R a manual tranny on a Jetta? 2. Does anyone happen to have a functional tranny sitting around? Thanks in advance, and please respond privately--no need to clutter the list
