I should check my writing before sending this...sorry to repeat! Last paragraph, second sentence: "Do I not detect any drip when idling for 20 minutes because no matter how long you idle you never get to full operating temp and therefore I HAVEN'T gotten it to normal expansion, so therefore no leakage if i do have a cracked head." Hello All - A couple people on the list have asked me how I know that my pilot bearing is shot. Well, I had been hearing a rattle just before fully engaging the clutch. Then one day at a traffic light (of course!) I could not disengage the clutch (from neutral) to put her in gear. So I did the rolling start and shifted very roughly, because the clutch was sticking. So that would be the pilot bearing or would it be the throw-out bearing?
By the way I have thought about my little intermittent coolant drip problem and have wondered this. Do I not detect any drip when idling for 20 minutes because no matter how long you idle you never get to full operating temp and therefore I have gotten it to normal expansion, so therefore no leakage if i do have a cracked head. Sound right? or do you reach op. temp after idling for 20 or 30 minutes? Thanks, Les '84 Westy ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO!
