At 7:43 AM -0700 4/19/01, Alan Ruffalo rearranged electrons to say: >When I logged on yesterday - a program downloaded and rewrote my video >driver which shrunk my monitor screen one inch all the way around. All of >the obvious fixes don't seem to work and now the default message tells me >that the correct VGA driver is not being used in my laptop computer. What program? Try this: Go into the System control panel in Windows and click on the graphics adapter, then click Remove. Have your Windows disk handy and your video card driver disk. Reboot. When the computer comes up, it'll prompt you to install your video drivers since it'll automatically detect the video hardware again. If you are not sure what video card you have, the System control panel should tell you; if that doesn't help, look on the laptop manufacturer's Web site for driver downloads or system specs. If you can only find specs, try the video card manufacturer's site. It might be an ATI, since they're pretty common, it seems (my powerbook uses an ATI Rage LT, if I remember right) -- http://www.atitech.ca -- but check first. good luck! -- ----- Jennifer - ncc876@yahoo.com ... knee-deep in the hoopla ... _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
