Besides great looks and the ability to carry 7 people to their deaths in a head-on accident(if it runs) what is a splittie good for?

I mean...If i wanted a reliable "classic" workhorse i would buy a 72' dodge van: its BIG(spacey), its relatively safe, engines are cheap, reliable, easy to work on, and the van looks almost as classic as a Splittie.
