Subject:      water pump failure

Greetings and Salutations;

I passed along some info to a list member which I arrived at intuitively but never really verified scientifically so please correct me if needed. Bentley demands that the coolant system be flushed and only fresh anti-freeze be used. At first I thought this a ploy to vend parts and services. Now I believe this a sound practice because a failed pump contaminates the coolant with metallic bearing particles. If reused the seal in the new pump will be abraded and allow coolant to wash out the lubricant. A self-replicating process ensues.
