The wire from the ECU is shielded -- the shield stops an inch or so short of the spade connector.

Make sure your throttle is closing completely -- if it is and the throttle switch is working, idling at that speed it should be shutting down and restarting over and over. If it's not closing, there's your problem. Take out the idle stabilizer and connect the plugs to each other -- if the idle goes to normal, bad stabilizer. If it doesn't, try setting it to spec. If it stays that way when you put the stabilizer back you may be all set.
