Subject: Connecting Oil Pressure Gauge?
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

Volks -

I'm having a new Boston Bob engine installed. Several folks on the list made good suggestions about useful things to do while that's being done.

I am thinking of putting in the connection for an oil pressure gauge now, while the engine is on the bench so later, when I want to install it, I don't have a headache getting at the spot where the sender sits under the left side of the engine.

Ken Wilfey suggested using a piece of pipe and a T to connect the existing sender, plugging the other end of the T, which could be used to add the other sender later.

Now that I have actually seen the new engine, I don't quite see how that will work. The end of the pipe will still be in under the tin.

Any other suggestions for leaving an accessible place to install a sender later? Perhaps I should get a high pressure flex hose and a cap, and bring that up on top of the engine?

I'm sort of running out of money, so I don't want to buy the sender now. Besides, I'm still looking for the right gauge. VDO is good, but I also like the looks of the Dakota Digital rectangular gauge

When I'm done I will post a complete materials list and labor hours it takes to do the new engine. Too much, I'm sure, but it will be nice when its done!

Thanks!
