I've used the rebuilds from Beck with no problem. Note that they do come with the vacuum advance.

I need some advise.

My mechanic sayes that I need a new distributor to go with my shiney-new BostonEngine in my '84 Westy. Here are how the prices break down:

Dealer new Bosch: $509 Crown from Bosch distributor: $190 Beck Arnley from Parts store $135 A-1 Cardone from Checker $136 used from a junk yard- $150 (they say jump on the Beck)

I would certainly prefer to go with a new Bosch (who wouldn't?) but I'm wondering if a Crown or Beck Arnley wouldn't be sufficient, since they are supposed to be rebuilt with Bosch parts.

And what about used distributors? I think I might be able to find one either at a wrecking yard or on the vanagon list. Is this something that I want to install?

Please e-mail me directly, since I'm not always subscribed, or you can phone me at (801) 580-6602.

Thanks all,

Travis Pearce travis@seldomscene-bca.com
