Works for me -- I expand the arm mechanism while holding to the handle inside. When the arm mechanism is fully expanded I lean forward as necessary to allow the door to come to rest at the stop. I was advised by my brother-in-law to use this technique in windy Scotland, where the dead rabbits on the roadside are almost obscured by flying doors (not quite; I was there during the myxomatosis stage where they all stagger around blindly and walk under things until you have almost literally fur-lined roads)...
