Subject: Damaged 1975 Type 4 Bus engine FS in NZ
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"

It's probably about time to cut down on the stuff filling my basement.

The original twin-carb 1.8 engine from my 75 Bay could be for sale, if there are any NZ listees listening who know someone who wants one. It had a 1916 slip-in kit and went extremely well, 130kmh effortlessly, but hindsight tells me there was a damaged piston when I bought it. After a year or so the piston burned through completely, leaving me to drive about 180km home on 3 cylinders, leaving a cloud of breather smoke (not exhaust0 so thick it completely obscured the road... sorry to other road users! (wouldn't try that now...). It would still do 100kmh, but I kept it down to 65.

It's been sitting with heads & barrels off for about 10 years... and I hava no real idea what it's worth.

Then again, maybe I ought to find a rough CV-jointed Bug, cut it down into a roadster, fix the engine and my 094 5-speed and fit them?
