<< Take a look at camping world's site; I have a couple very similar to the drink holders they carry, mounted on the front doors. Work pretty well, don't look like a tacky add-on. I bought mine at a local RV supply place but you could buy them online. >>

I had a few camping world cupholders installed in my '74. They are just okay, and have some brittle plastic and are easily broken. I've since replaced them with good German made cup holders

If you want a decent cupholder to replace an original black VW one, check my website. These will replace the originals and are made from better plastic. They are also made in Germany. Available in gray or black. Use can also use them anywhere you have a good spot to mount one. $11.95 ea. including postage.
