Hmmm... I like the idea of minimalism. Packing a lot of function into a small space. I can go anywhere in my Westy... except some parking garages. Pretty much just like a regular automobile, but with all -- make that "some" -- of the comforts of home.

I saw my first VW Microbus (we called them then) in 1965 in Sicily. It was being driven by Peter Throckmorton, the father of underwater archaeology. When I got back to the states, first thing I did was buy one. Don't even remember the model year, but it sure got me around. Traded it in 1968 for a Chevy Camaro (groan). Kept the Camaro for just a little less than 2 years before trading it for a 68 Westy. I'd been out of VWs for nearly 25 years until I got my 85 Westy last summer.

BTW... Saw a cool burgundy colored Westy this morning at the Plaza in Kansas City. A list member?
