Howdy all,

I'm happy to see that there was a much better response to the voting to keep the list open or to close it this year. A total of 135 votes by listmembers were rec'd, which is just over 10% of the list. Thanks for the feedback.

Before I reveal the result, I want to make clear that this issue is now settled for the period of one year. There was a ton of talk across the list about which was better, open or closed...but now it needs to stop. It's time for the talk to center on the Vanagon "experience".

The vote wasn't even close this time. The list is now closed. What this means is that you must be a subscriber in order to post to the list.

Now, even this will not 100% prevent SPAM from hitting the list. There are marketers that have written automated scripts that subscribe to the list just so that they can share their message with us and then it auto-unsubscribes...so you can still expect a SPAM from the list from time to time. That's life on the 'net, and there isn't much we can do about it.

Here's what I ask of you now:

If you like the results of the voting, rejoice silently. If you didn't, don't bother telling the list that you don't agree. Start a debate about why your position is/was better and that maybe we should have a recount, and you will get some time off the list.

If a SPAM sneaks through, delete it. Don't whine about receiving it...that will accomplish nothing but to get me testy.

Your Vanagon list admin, TomC tcarrington@relitech.com
