What a way to start a Monday. Apparently that wonderful plastic gas line that runs through the frame rail to the fuel injection let go, resulting in a full tank of gas being pumped out onto the highway, and leaving me stranded. No gas sprayed around the engine compartment; it all came out in the passenger side rear wheelwell area. How come VW doesn't use metal gas lines like everyone else? John Tucson, AZ 84 Westy
Check your fuel pressure. If your regulator fails, it will over-pressure the FI system and blow off this line. My '86 did the same thing. VW used the plastic because it was cheaper, but they will tell you "corrosion resistant". It is actually very tough stuff. Jay '85 Westy |
