Carl, I don't think you will ever see $3,000 for the engine, unless you
are elsewhere than the USA.. You can buy a fresh rebuild with warranty
for less than that. In some cases much less. My engine cost me $1500 -
complete rebuild with all new bearings throughout, new cam, new
waterpump, rebuild of heads with new valves, guides, and seats, new
cylinders, rings and pistons, rework of the rods. Was done a year
ago...only negative so far has been a slightly leaky rear main seal.
Seeps just a bit. Could happen on any engine rebuild. Biggest problem on
this is that to fix it the tranny had to come out to get at the seal. A
PITA, but something that I have been willing to live with until
recently.
Good luck on the hut for a buyer for the engine.
