I have set the timing to 2 or 3 degrees BTDC. (I had been running at TDC for several weeks.) The low end power does seem slightly better. It is clearly better than 4 or 5 degrees ATDC. Disconnecting the vacuum lines on the distributor did not affect the timing at idle. (Haynes says to disconnect them, Bentley says no.) I am going to leave it here until I have a chance to do some sustained interstate driving. Looking through the Bentley at all the other ignition settings, the Digijet is the only one with this "retarded" starting point. Anyone know why? Are the cams different? Jay '85 Westy |
