My first experience was test driving one from Humphrey VW in Hayward, California. I had had enough of trying to travel with a baby in a car. I already liked VWs (had a turbodiesel Jetta and a Scirocco) but neither was well suited for road trips with a child (and bicycle, dog, etc.). I drove a 1986 GL which my parents eventually bought because they babysat my son and I would borrow it for trips. We all went to Northern Arizona in the 86 one year; fantastic trip. All the baby's stuff fit neatly inside and the view was great, as well as the ride. I couldn't believe I hadn't discovered Vanagons sooner. I didn't want to look like a soccer mom and had previously taken a dim view of vans so it took me til early 1988 to buy my 87 Wolfsburg. No turning back. >>> CHRIS STANN <cstann3@home.com> 04/21/01 02:23PM >>> Why do you like your Vanagon? What made you consider one? What was you first experience of one? |
