Subject: possibly my new vanagon
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" ; format="flowed"

Hello all, Hope youns all had a good weekend. I went and drove my possibly new (new to me anyhow) '87 Vanagon Sunday afternoon. It's a silver GL model. It's got a table, seating for seven, and the rear seats fold down into a bed, Automatic, A/C. Tires are in good shape. There's also a westfalia label on the box underneath the rear seat, though its not a camper model.

It has a small amount of rust on a seam on the driver's side, the tail pipe is rusted and will probably need replaced. It ran fine, although as expected with not as much power as our current minivan (a Ch*&y Lumina APV with a 3.1L V6). Brakes seemed to work fine, I got it up to the speed limit ~50mph pretty quickly. My wife and kids liked the room (lots of it, especially compared to our current minivan) and the condition of the interior and seats (very nice). Its got 113,000 miles on it, however the engine was replaced around 60,000. After my test drive I looked underneath for leaks and found none. There wasn't any smoke out of the exhaust that I could see and the engine compartment looked fine although it wasn't freshly cleaned.

Its a foreign car repair shop that's got it and its one of their personal vehicles. They're asking $2500 for it. So I think I'm going to see where I can dig up some cash and then try to sell our current minivan. Any ideas on further things to check? Thanks, Tony -- this is coming to you from Anthony Bailey KC0HZP (mailto:abailey@mac.com) Marble Hill, Missouri 63764
