Subject:      Malfunctioning fuel guage

Hey folks,


The fuel  guage on my 82 has permanetley stopped working.  The needle is
now buried and doesn't come up at all.  Previous to now it was sporadic,
sometimes it would come up, sometimes it wouldn't, but it always read
low, never high, and sometimes it would waver well driving.  This leads
me to believe it is more likely an electrical problem than a stuck or
sticky float.  Any suggestions on how to trouble shoot this to rule out
an electrical problem?  I would rather make sure it's not just a gunky
wire before I go through the trouble of dropping the gas tank to check
on the float.
