<< To the noble heads of the list,

I have an opportunity to purchase an 74 Westy, automatic, with 32.000 original miles on it. >>

The price sounds very good to me. I saw a similar condition Westy at the Auburn Hills show last year and they were asking $15K.

Even though it has very low miles on it, potential repair costs could add up significantly. And would you really be happy with an automatic?

I wouldn't sell my '74 Westy for that low of price and I have over 175,000 miles on it.

I only paid $500 for it 11 years ago, but with tires, brakes, shocks, canvas, rebuilt engine, new carbs, new ignition and other general maintenance, I've spent quite a bit on it since.
