Some people agree with you; some don't. Lately, there doesn't seem to be a large quality difference -- Jettas (Except the wagon) are made in Puebla as is the New Beetle, Golfs and GTIs come from Brasil, and Passats/Eurovans come from Germany. My Golf was made in Wolfsburg, and I'm glad of it; it's a matter of principle, plus you can't get new Golfs that were made there anymore. (How to tell? The VIN starts with "WVW" if it's from Germany, a 3 if it's from Mexico ... and I forget what the country code is for Brasil.)
