I think you should go at this from the other direction. Drain the oil from the block (leave the filter alone), put 4 quarts in, then see where it reads on your dipstick. Check several times on level ground to make sure it repeats at the same spot. If your new dipstick is way off, mark the dipstick where the known 4 quart level is.
