Doug,

Removing vinyl appliques from cars is like making pasta sauce, everybody has their own favorite way of doing it. Mine is to flood the offending decal with hot water straight from the tap. Once it is warmed, it will peel right off along with most of the adhesive. We are like most families in that we set the water heater thermostat a little above what is considered a prudent temperature. Whatever it is, the temperature seems to be just right for vinyl stripping with no chance of paint damage. I clean the scant amount of adhesive left behind with mineral spirits.
