As I have recently found out about this problem. After some investigation,
I found that the linkage needed adjusted. Doesn't do it any more. However,
I'll keep my eye's peeled when I change the tranny oil.... :)

This is true. Federal DOT regulations suck as far as lighting goes.
However, if you drive a $60,000-$70,000 luxury Mercedes you can have some
real snazzy headlights. Us poor folk have to put up with flashlights duct
taped to the side of our cars. :)

I just upgraded my 73 super bug to some H4 headlights w/insert driving
lights and daytime "glow" lamps. They are supposed to not be DOT legal,
however, Washington State Patrol says okay by them. So, go figure? Perhaps
its the age of the car or something. Besides, the super bug rarely hits the
road since it's still under restoration. But the difference is outragous!
The light is so vibrant and you can see for great distances.
