On the non-Canadian versions that lining is hinged at the rear so that you can lower it down separately from the stove/sink lid. It then covers the stove grates and forms a drainboard that drains into the sink.

Aww, I'm sorry. When it's stowed it just acts like a stainless skin inside the stove cover, same profile as the top and front of the cover. To use it you reach up and pull the near edge -- it then folds down and rests on that same near edge, covering the stove grates but not touching them. Does that help? Anybody want to send me a digi-camera? <g>
