This a good spot. I had a pair of Sony 6x9 in my GL. I just could cut up the Wesfalia....

I put a pair of Sony 6x9's in the front of the bench seat in my westy. Don't know if yours is a westfalia or not, but if it is, just cut two oval holes in the front panel of the bench seat and plunk the speakers in there. To wire them, I ran the wires out of the deck, behind the glovebox, under the carpet of the passenger floor, under the carpet on the passenger wheelwell, down beside the batery box, and under the carpet into a tiny sneaky little hole in the bottom of the bench seat. The speaker backs take up hardly any space under the bench seat, and I can still use it for storage. greg.
