My system currently has a Sony head and 10 cd changer w/40x4 "watts" of power("mounted" in a plastic sterilite box inbetween the front seats). 4 of the aforementioned Boston acoustics small speakers in stock locations front and rear, two antique Nakamichi SP-400 3 ways mounted under the front door window cranks, and two Rockford 8" punch woofers in a pair of $5 carpeted cabinets I got on sale from Radio Shack. A Big rockford power Amp(600a4 I think) delivers 75x4 REAL watts to the Naks and Woofers and was carefully mounted under the passenger seat. Critical listening yes, and Dire Straits' live version of "Your Latest Trick" is particularly impressive. Shopped wisely for all this stuff and have about $1100 tied up in it. Wanting to move the woofers under the back seat(see other post). The Sterilite box has a drawer in it in which I cut out an opening to access the CD magazine up front, and cut a top hole towards the back of the box so I can store the extra 4 magazines behind the changer, yet keep it all out of sight and relatively free from the tem extremes and dust etc. A neoprene rubber mat covers the top hole and keeps other stuff from sliding around on top of the Sterilite box. It looks just cheezy enough that no crook would think to look under there.

As a side note, the discount store warehouse I work in recently had an in house video and CD returns sale open to employees only. Over 50,000 CD's videos, DVD's and cassettes were set out and once the door was opened, it was a mad house. Everything started out a dollar a piece regardless of number of videos or CD's in the case. Many of the jewel cases were cracked, but most times the musci was fine. 4 CD box sets of Bruce Springsteen and George Strait....$1 Austin Powers DVD....$1. Yeah I went nuts. After the third round of selling so all 800 employees could get a shot at shopping, everything dropped to .10 a piece.

one of the 7 deadly sins is gluttony and I'm guilty as charged. Ended up grabbing almost 600 CD's total and maybe another 100 videos. It's truly amazing what you wouldn't dream of paying $15-20 dollars for atthe store, suddenly becomes a wonderful value at either a dollar or 10cents apiece!! Good lesson in economics I guess. Even with the last day mark downs, the company's volunteers group raised over $22,000 for charities local and nationwide. The bad news was that what didn't sell was crushed(a lot of it was junky power rangers videos and TV promo type CD's, but hell if you even liked one or two songs on it, it was worth a dime! I'll spend more on storingthis stuff than I'll have tied up in it. Oh well, at least the van won't get tired of the same old songs over and over again. did I mention I like music too?
