Subject: Radiator Fan Differences & A/C install update
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii

Hi all,

I'm still working on my A/C install from a 90 Westy into my 87. I've got all the wiring in the rear of the van done and most of the wiring in the front. All the a/c components are in place and so I have one final big task: re-wiring the cooling system.

According to my wiring diagrams the Digifant vanagon, with A/C, got a different radiator fan than the vans without A/C. It's a two-wire fan and VW uses a resistor to run it at lower speeds. It looks like it's configured for three speeds. The top speed runs the fan directly from the battery on 6 gauge wire and a 50amp fusable link. That must be pretty impressive!

Does anyone know what the part number on this fan is? (The one for the van's with A/C)? Does anyone have a spare they'd like to sell or trade for my existing? Or do they know of other VWs or Audis it was used in? I'm also still in need of the 3rd stage fan relay that is unique to the a/c vans and I need the resistor used with the rad fan...

Thanks,

Damian
